Girls from the Apatani tribe were known for their extraordinary beauty and were often kidnapped by the neighbouring Nishi tribes until the middle of the 20th century. To put an end to this, they were deliberately defaced with facial tatoos and nose plugs that were meant to evoke fear.
This woman continued to display her charm though.
And the weapon was meant for bamboos !
